I have been working closely with the parish council, who have taken on the role of managing the project to update and expand the play area in the corner of the village playing field. The chairman Mark Winrow has put a lot of time and effort into this project. We have managed to obtain funding for the project and it will be completed this year. Full details as to the funding will be announced at a later date.
The ground works are being supplied by Aggregate Industries from High Roads Quarry using a local firm MPA Hire. These works will commence in October. Unfortunately, I do not yet have an exact date, but work requires that the play area is closed. It will be fenced off for safety reasons. Please do not enter the play area during this time. It will take a good two weeks for the ground works to be done. It will then have to be inspected by the installers of the new play equipment, ESP Play, to make sure that the area is to their specifications, then a further two weeks to install the new equipment. ESP Play have suggested a date no later than 13 November for the installation.
The slide is staying and the horse has been repaired thanks to the Parish Council. The horse will be sited roughly where it was originally. Our idea is to do away with the metal fence and make the new play area part of the village field.
We ask that the village be patient whilst the work is carried out. There will be restricted access to the field and there may be some mess, mud on road etc. Please be patient, the improvements to the Play Area will be worth it.
