Bonjour! Did you know we are twinned with the beautiful village of Bussières in central France, west of Lyon and just south of the beautiful Beaujolais wine area? Bouncing back after Covid, the twinning group is starting to make plans again.

Why get involved?
  1.  Stay in Family Homes One of the unique perks of twinning is the opportunity to experience authentic French hospitality. Instead of a standard hotel, you get to stay with a family in their home, truly immersing yourself in the heart of French culture. There is no need to be able to speak French, there are always people about to help translate.
  2. Forge Lifelong Friendships: Twinning isn’t just about connecting two communities, it’s about creating lasting bonds between people. By joining our group, you open the door to a world of new friendships. Exchange stories, laughter, and experiences with your French counterparts, and form lasting connections. Also, make new friends locally through the group.
  3. Cultural Exchange Beyond Tourism: We go beyond the typical tourist experience. Our twinning group facilitates a genuine cultural exchange. Engage in local traditions, participate in community events, and discover the hidden gems that only locals know. Our hosts arrange many varied events and visits for us in France.
  4. Enriching Educational Opportunities: For families, our town twinning group offers a unique educational experience for children. They have the chance to learn about a different culture first hand, practise their language skills and make friends from another country. It’s a unique experience that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms.
  5. Reciprocal Visits: We aim to alternate each year, with a group visiting France one year followed by us hosting a French group the following year. There is no obligation to do both, if you 2 prefer just to host, that is fine. We endeavour to match individuals and families to similar host families.
  6. Cost: There is no membership fee. When visiting France, you just pay for your transport and incidentals. Your French hosts will provide you with accommodation and lots of wonderful food. When hosting French families here, we provide the equivalent.
