Nether Kellet Rainbows and Brownies continue to be busy with lots of fun activities each week. Our Brownies were delighted to enter the Girlguiding North West Eurovision Song Contest with an original song written specially for the event. Although we weren’t chosen as the lucky winners, the girls were very proud of their song which can be heard on the Nether Kellet website (www.netherkellet.com) in the
Brownies section. We also took part in the St George’s Day Parade in Bolton-le- Sands which was a great experience for the girls.
Rainbows have been busy this term making (and flying!) kites and have enjoyed spending some time outside enjoying the much-improved weather.
The Rainbows and Brownies enjoyed working together in a special Coronation evening where they enjoyed a range of crafts and biscuit
decorating to celebrate the event and will continue to work together over the next few weeks as we work on a special ‘Girl Power’ badge sponsored by Electricity North West.
We are also looking forward to seeing our new girls take their promises later this month at a special evening organised by the Brownies as part of their badge work. As always, we are looking for volunteers to help out at sessions or to bring their own skills to our girls. If you would like to get involved, please contact Jayne (Brownies) or Sophie (Rainbows).
Nether Kellet Brownies were delighted to enter the Girlguiding North West’s own Eurovision Song Contest. We weren’t chosen as the winner but we hope you like our song which was specially composed by leader, Jayne

The Nether Kellet Brownies have been working on their Charity and Make a Difference badges and have created a fantastic video to support the village in raising funds for a new playground in the village! If anyone would like to donate to the cause, please email info@netherkellet.com. We have some way to go to meet our target and would love to have your support.
Another busy term for Rainbows and Brownies! Rainbows have been busy working on their First Aid badge and held a hospital for teddies – learning lots of useful skills along the way. Brownies have been busy working on their Charity and Influencer badges by doing some fundraising and promotion for NK Play. They have created a video and written a song which we will be sharing in order to spread the message about the village fundraising for our new playground.
On 8th October, most of our Brownies joined us at Silver Sapling campsite to enjoy a special Viking Day. The girls were able to learn how to cook Viking food, and loved painting shields and learning how to fight like a Viking warrior! We also enjoyed a special Viking display from the Crux De Noix Viking re-enactment group which was fantastic. The day ended with all of the Brownies renewing their promise – promising this time to ‘serve the King’. I also officially received my leadership qualification!
For the rest of 2022 we will be continuing with our badge work and are very much looking forward to singing some Christmas carols at the |Christmas Bingo event. Many thanks to all those who have helped us to run sessions this year and we look forward to exciting times, with more and fun to be had in January!
We were delighted to welcome our Brownies and Rainbows back to our Thursday night sessions after the long summer break. This term, Brownies are going to be working on ‘Making a Difference’ by supporting charities. The main charity we will be supporting this term is NK Play and the girls have lots of ideas about how they can raise much needed funds to improve the Nether Kellet playground. We have some fantastic ideas and will be sharing these with you soon (keep an eye out for our promotional video and song in the next few weeks!). The girls have also been bringing in pyjamas for the wonderful ‘Children’s Hospital Pyjamas’ charity which you can read about elsewhere in this edition.
We have decided this term to divide the Brownies into ‘Sixes’ (Leprechauns, Pixies and Sprites) with each six developing independent skills and having the opportunity for some friendly competition! We announced the roles of ‘Sixers’ (Lily, Rose and Aoife) and ‘Seconders’ (Autumn, Emme and Juliet) and we are sure that there will be lots of fun to be had! Rainbows had followed suit and we now have the ‘Unicorns’ and ‘Mermaids’!
We are also looking forward to taking the Brownies to a special ‘Viking Day’ at Silver Sapling campsite in October and will have lots to share about this in the next edition of Round and About!
